With the windows open at the Cobble Hill House, the sound of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, which the new condo building overlooks, is — delicately put — a constant roar.
But close the triple-glazed, parlor-style windows and the condo units at 78 Amity Street, at the corner of Hicks Street, transform into quiet, light-filled spacious homes with fantastic East River views, just beyond the expressway.
New looks at Cobble Hill’s undulating 1 River Park condo
As part of a feature on a new wave of outdoor terraces in NYC’s upcoming residential buildings, the New York Times got its hands on two new renderings for 1 River Park. The new renderings give us a first close up look at the entire 15-story building, which will have just 48 apartments.
Terraces to Look At and Linger On
If yesterday’s terraces were just little rectangular slabs tacked onto the sides of buildings, today’s are becoming increasingly generous and welcoming. Some developers and architects are ushering in a new age of terrace design in a bid to provide more interesting outdoor space. Low walls edging apartment terraces will undulate across the facade of 1 River Park, a 15-story condominium tower that will rise in Cobble Hill.
